The Duke basketball program is poised to strengthen its roster with the potential addition of another top-tier recruit, as five-star guard Jordan Smith Jr. has finalized his plans to visit the Blue Devils.
Smith, ranked No. 8 overall in the 2026 class by 247Sports Composite, has scheduled his unofficial visit to Duke for the weekend of September 28. The visit comes at a promising time for Duke, which already boasts a strong connection to Smith’s high school, Paul VI Catholic (Va.), a program that has produced current Blue Devils freshmen Darren Harris and Patrick Ngongba II, as well as recent stars Jeremy Roach and Trevor Keels.
Given the existing ties between Duke and Paul VI Catholic, head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff are in a strong position to secure a commitment from Smith, who is one of only three high school juniors with a Duke offer.
While Smith has been hearing from several top programs, including Michigan State, Louisville, and Kansas, his scheduled trip to Durham remains the only confirmed visit on his calendar—a positive sign for Duke as they pursue one of the most coveted players in the 2026 class.

Smith’s talent on the court has been widely recognized, with Rivals’ Rob Cassidy noting his potential to rise even higher in the rankings. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound guard impressed scouts at the Peach Jam with his dynamic and versatile offensive game, including impressive shot creation, ability to finish through contact, and a disruptive defensive presence.
As the recruiting cycle progresses, Smith’s visit to Duke will be a key moment for both the player and the program, as the Blue Devils look to add another elite talent to their storied basketball legacy.
