The New England Patriots have some tough decisions ahead as they finalize their roster, but that hasn’t stopped them from exploring potential upgrades. Despite no major alarm being raised about the offensive line, the Patriots’ front office, led by Executive Vice President of Player Personnel Eliot Wolf, has remained active.
According to Christopher Price of The Boston Globe, the Patriots were one of several teams that inquired about offensive lineman Dennis Daley, who was recently released by the Arizona Cardinals. Daley, who started 15 games at left tackle for the Tennessee Titans during the 2022 season, spent most of last season on injured reserve with the Cardinals. Arizona released the 28-year-old lineman on Monday, and he could soon be finding a new team.
Daley’s performance in 2022 was solid, earning a 68.7 blocking grade from Pro Football Focus, his best showing since his rookie year with the Carolina Panthers, where he recorded a 57.7 blocking grade.
Head coach Jerod Mayo and quarterback Jacoby Brissett have also downplayed concerns about the offensive line, with Mayo emphasizing throughout training camp that the Patriots are always on the lookout for ways to improve the roster. The inquiry about Daley is a clear sign that the team is actively seeking talent to bolster their offensive line as the season approaches.
