The team announced the signing of RB Lorenzo Lingard, an undrafted rookie who originally joined the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars after playing at Akron. Lingard, a seasoned player, spent time with the Miami Hurricanes and Florida Gators before using his sixth year of eligibility to transfer to Akron in 2023. Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 202 pounds, Lingard has an athletic background, having been a Florida state champion in the 110-meter hurdles during high school.
Despite his extended college career, Lingard has relatively low mileage with just 186 carries, 143 of which came during his final season at Akron. He averaged 4.5 yards per carry and showed promise as a receiving threat with 38 receptions, averaging 9.7 yards per catch and scoring two touchdowns.
Lingard joins a competitive running back room that includes Tyrone Tracy, Eric Gray, and Dante Miller, all of whom have shown potential, particularly in the recent matchup against the Detroit Lions.
In a corresponding move, the Giants waived RB Jacob Saylors on Sunday evening.
