Five-Star Nate Ament Shines, Along with Acaden Lewis and Eli Ellis in Scrimmage
Nate Ament, a five-star forward, made an immediate impact during the Friday night scrimmage at Under Armour’s Elite 24 event, hosted at the Brooklyn Nets training facility. Ament had missed the first day of activities, but he wasted no time in making his presence felt during the evening session, which was watched by NBA scouts, family members, and media.
Team Fire Standouts
Nate Ament – Ranked No. 7 nationally in the class of 2025, Ament arrived in Brooklyn after a redeye flight from the West Coast and quickly showcased his skills. Standing at an impressive 6-foot-9, he demonstrated his ability to shoot from deep, handle the ball, and move fluidly on the court. Although his energy waned as the scrimmage progressed, Ament delivered several standout moments that were difficult to replicate. While he may play as a face-up four in college, his long-term potential as a jumbo wing is tantalizing. Ament has already locked in official visits to Kentucky and Virginia, with more likely to follow, but he’s expected to take his time with the decision.
Acaden Lewis – Coming off recent unofficial visits to Duke and Syracuse, Lewis lived up to his No. 31 ranking in the class of 2025. He demonstrated versatility by running the show, playing off the ball, and blending both roles seamlessly. His polish stood out on Friday, as he consistently repositioned himself after passing, remained shot-ready, and played with high skill. Lewis’s performance in Brooklyn solidified his potential for a stellar college career.
Malachi Moreno – Ranked No. 25 in the class of 2025, Moreno was active across all aspects of the game. He sprinted the floor, posted up strongly, finished around the rim, and dominated the glass on both ends. Despite not securing a scrimmage win, Moreno, along with Lewis and Ament, made a strong showing.
Team Ice Standouts
Shon Abaev – Abaev continued to impress, following up on a strong July with another standout performance. Known for his scoring ability, he consistently created problems for defenders with his size, strength, and shot-making skills. His current ranking of No. 44 in the class of 2025 could be on the rise.
Eli Ellis – Initially feeling things out during the scrimmage, Ellis eventually found his rhythm, showcasing the skill and shot-making ability he had displayed during Thursday’s practice. The No. 55 ranked player in 2025 and a South Carolina commit, Ellis hit open shots and made a significant impact in a winning effort.
Dylan Mingo – One of the few 2026 prospects in attendance, Mingo excelled defensively, using his 6-foot-4 frame and quick instincts to harass opposing ball handlers. Ranked No. 22 in his class, Mingo’s ability to get to the rim and his defensive prowess made him stand out.
Mazi Mosley – Mosley, ranked No. 48 nationally, had a strong showing on Friday, handling the ball effectively and creating opportunities as both a scorer and passer. His combination of quickness, easy movement, and versatility at 6-foot-5 made him a key player in the scrimmage.
Christopher Washington Jr. – Another 2026 prospect, Washington showcased his potential with a series of impressive plays, including dunks, a three-pointer, and a big block. Standing at 6-foot-7, Washington, ranked No. 28 in his class, is still developing physically, but his athleticism and activity on the court suggest a bright future.
