Breaking News: Head coach Mike Norvell Confirmed Big Boost as Another Top Star Commits to Noles Over Auburn and Bulldogs…

Richie Leonard IV is earning high praise from Florida State head coach Mike Norvell.

As Florida State football gears up for the 2024 season, the team is moving into a new chapter. Key players like Jordan Travis, Trey Benson, Johnny Wilson, Jaheim Bell, Keon Coleman, Braden Fiske, Jared Verse, Fabien Lovett Sr., Kalen DeLoach, Tatum Bethune, Jarrian Jones, Renardo Green, and Akeem Dent have all departed.

To fill these gaps, the coaching staff has brought in several newcomers, including quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. The former Clemson and Oregon State transfer has had a mixed collegiate career, with his main weakness being short to intermediate pass accuracy.

The Seminoles have also bolstered their roster with running backs Roydell Williams from Alabama and Jaylin Lucas from Indiana, along with offensive linemen like Alabama’s TJ Ferguson and Florida’s Richie Leonard IV. These additions will be crucial if Florida State wants to reestablish their powerful running game.

Head coach Mike Norvell has built his offensive scheme around a strong running game. Success on the ground will open up passing lanes for quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, potentially leading to a more balanced and effective offense.

Following Monday’s practice, Norvell highlighted Richie Leonard IV, noting that the Florida transfer is looking impressive up front. Leonard IV started all twelve games for the rival Gators last season and was a standout on a struggling team that failed to make a bowl game.

Replacing key players like Casey Roddick and D’Mitri Emmanuel, offensive coordinator and line coach Alex Atkins now oversees one of the most experienced position units in the country. With Leonard IV in the rotation, the Seminoles can rely on their counter-run game, using guards who can effectively pull and reach the second level.

This is a promising strategy, especially considering Florida State’s dominant counter-run game in their 2022 blowout victory against Miami.

I’m excited to see how Leonard IV integrates into the Seminoles’ offensive line this season. His presence could significantly boost Florida State’s ground game and overall offensive performance.
