Official Knicks Updates: New York Knicks Announced the Signing of Another Sensational Star to Bloster Tom Thibodeau’s Roster…

With the loss of Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency, the Knicks faced a significant gap in their center depth. Mitchell Robinson is expected to start, but the backup spot was a major concern. That is, until now. Following the re-signing of Precious Achiuwa, it seems the Knicks have addressed this need.

Achiuwa, who was traded to the Knicks from the Toronto Raptors as part of the OG Anunoby deal midway through the season, averaged eight points and seven rebounds in 49 games. Heading into the 2024-25 NBA season, Achiuwa is set to take on the backup center role, filling the shoes left by Hartenstein.

Considering Hartenstein’s pivotal role last season, Achiuwa will have a significant task as Robinson’s backup. However, the Knicks may still explore additional options to bolster their center position before the regular season starts or at the NBA Trade Deadline.

Currently, the Knicks have three center options: Robinson, Achiuwa, and Jericho Sims. The effectiveness of this trio will largely depend on Robinson’s health throughout the season. If Robinson remains healthy, the Knicks could have a strong rotation. However, if Robinson faces any injuries, Achiuwa would step up as the starter, a role that might be challenging for him to handle extensively.

For now, all indications point to Achiuwa starting the season as the Knicks’ backup center, providing essential support behind Robinson.
