Good News: Pirates Announce the Sign 2 Experienced 2024 Draft Picks to Bolster Derek Shelton’s Roster…

The Pittsburgh Pirates have added two more members to their 2024 draft class. On Wednesday, the team signed left-handed pitcher Jacob Bimbi and center fielder Andrew Patrick.

Bimbi, selected in the 11th round from Western Kentucky, had a 4-2 record over 15 appearances (14 starts) last season. He led the Hilltoppers with 71 strikeouts in 54 2/3 innings. The 6-foot, 185-pound pitcher previously played at Tennessee in 2023 and Wabash Valley Community College in Illinois, where he earned the 2022 Great Rivers Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year title with an impressive 11-1 record and 1.49 ERA.

Patrick, a 17th-round pick from Wright State in Ohio, posted a .244 batting average with eight home runs and 24 RBIs as a junior, leading his team with 17 stolen bases despite being limited to 34 games due to injury. In 2023, he was named first-team All-Horizon League, hitting .326 with 21 doubles, 20 home runs, and 59 RBIs as a sophomore. Patrick is a 6-foot-4, 195-pound right-handed batter.
