Good News: Head Coach Chauncey Billups Gets Major Boost as the Blazers Announced the Signing of the 29-year-old Veteran Star…

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Portland Trail Blazers are signing Devonte’ Graham to a one-year contract. Before joining Portland, Graham appeared in 46 games with the San Antonio Spurs over the past two seasons, averaging 8.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game.

According to Sean Highkin of The Rose Garden Report, Devonte’ Graham is set to compete for a roster spot in the Portland Trail Blazers’ training camp before the 2024-25 season starts. Currently, the team has all 15 roster spots filled.

Devonte’ Graham was selected with the No. 34 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks before being traded to the Charlotte Hornets. After limited playing time in his rookie season, Graham broke out in his sophomore year, averaging 18.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game while shooting 37.3% from three-point range.

Following that breakout season, he signed a four-year, $47 million deal with the New Orleans Pelicans and was later traded to the San Antonio Spurs in 2023.

Graham became a free agent this summer after being traded by the Spurs to the Charlotte Hornets, who subsequently waived him. His $12.65 million contract was partially guaranteed for $2.85 million before he was released.

Portland Trail Blazers’ Current Guard Depth

With this latest addition, the Portland Trail Blazers now have five guards in their rotation: Scoot Henderson, Anfernee Simons, Dalano Banton, Shaedon Sharpe, and Devonte’ Graham.

The team is reportedly keen on trading Anfernee Simons, along with Jerami Grant, before the new season starts. However, no team has shown a willingness to meet Portland’s asking price of two first-round picks.

The Trail Blazers are in rebuild mode after trading away Damian Lillard last summer. They plan to build around their young talents, Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe.
