The Kansas City Royals have struck a deal to acquire Chicago White Sox infielder Paul DeJong. This exciting move was announced on Tuesday afternoon by Royals manager Matt Quatraro.
In exchange for DeJong, the Royals sent right-handed pitcher Harold Rosado to the White Sox. Interestingly, DeJong won’t have to travel far as the Royals and White Sox continue their series in Chicago on Tuesday night.
To accommodate this new addition, the Royals designated right-handed pitcher John McMillon for assignment.
DeJong, 30, is in his 12th major league season, having previously played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, and San Francisco Giants before joining Chicago this season. In his 102 games this year, DeJong has hit 18 home runs and driven in 41 runs, boasting a .228 average and a .275 on-base percentage.
This acquisition marks the second move of the day for the Royals, who earlier announced a trade for right-hander Lucas Erceg from the Oakland Athletics. Additionally, on Monday, the team traded for Texas Rangers starter Michael Lorenzen.
