Good News: Mariners Have Finally  Reached an Agreement with Miami Marlins to Reunite with Veteran Reliever to a Deal Worth…

The Seattle Mariners have reacquired right-handed reliever JT Chargois from the Miami Marlins. In exchange, the Mariners sent minor league right-hander Will Schomberg to the Marlins, according to a source confirmed by FOX 13 Seattle.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic first reported the deal.

Chargois, 33, is a familiar face for the Mariners, having spent half of the 2021 season with the team before being traded along with infielder Austin Shenton for reliever Diego Castillo. After missing the first two months of this season due to neck spasms, Chargois returned to action in early June.

Since his return, Chargois has made 15 appearances, pitching 16 ⅔ innings with a 1.62 ERA. He has allowed seven walks and struck out 12 batters. All three runs given up by Chargois this season have been solo home runs.

In 2021, Chargois made 31 appearances for Seattle, pitching 30 innings with a 3.00 ERA, six walks, and 29 strikeouts before being traded to Tampa.

Will Schomberg, 23, was signed by the Mariners as a free agent after going undrafted from Davidson University. He made 15 starts for Single-A Modesto before being promoted to High-A Everett in early July. At Modesto, Schomberg had a 6-1 record with a 2.69 ERA, 40 walks, and 97 strikeouts. In Everett, he has a 1-1 record with a 3.27 ERA, six walks, and 19 strikeouts in four starts.
