Sad News: Jerod Mayo Face Biggest Setback as Patriots Announced the Sad Departure of Another Key Player…

Depth cornerback Kaleb Ford-Dement was notably absent from the New England Patriots’ training camp practice on Friday. By evening, it was clear why: the team announced his release.

Ford-Dement, an undrafted free agent from Texas State, joined the Patriots in May. At 24 years old, the 5-foot-11, 178-pound cornerback also played at Kilgore College, Old Dominion, and Washington State during his collegiate career. Despite his efforts, he faced long odds to make the roster, with his best hope being a spot on the practice squad.

The Patriots’ cornerback position is particularly competitive this year. The group includes standout players like Christian Gonzalez, Jonathan Jones, and Marcus Jones. Other contenders include Alex Austin, Shaun Wade, Marcellas Dial Jr. (a sixth-round draft pick this year), and Isaiah Bolden, who is returning after missing last season following a promising camp. This depth left Ford-Dement without a place on the team.

With his release, the Patriots now have two open roster spots as they continue through training camp.
