The LSU Tigers have secured the commitment of five-star cornerback DJ Pickett, one of the nation’s top players across all recruiting services. Pickett chose LSU over Oregon and Miami, boosting the Tigers’ recruiting class, currently ranked fourth nationally, back into the conversation of top classes.
Pickett is universally recognized as a five-star talent by major recruiting platforms. Though listed as a safety by the 247 Sports composite rankings, LSU’s defensive backs coach Corey Raymond recruited the 6’4” Pickett as a cornerback. Raymond, who had built a relationship with Pickett during his time at Florida, leveraged this connection and Pickett’s pre-existing interest in LSU to secure his commitment despite a late challenge from Oregon.

Astonishing Attributes
Explosive, lengthy, and rangy, Pickett has excelled in multiple positions during high school. His elite traits are evident in his game film. Defensively, he has a knack for playing the ball and is a scoring threat after interceptions. His physical play belies his 180-pound frame, and he changes direction effortlessly while covering ground quickly with his long strides. Speed is no issue for Pickett, who has posted a sub-10.3 second time in the 100-meter dash. As a three-sport athlete, he has significant potential for growth once he fully dedicates himself to football.
Current Class Standing
With Pickett’s commitment, LSU now has 17 commitments for the class of 2025, fewer than the three teams currently ranked above them. Among these 17 commitments, three are five-star prospects. The last five commitments to LSU have all been on the defensive side of the ball, with the last two being in the secondary.
More good news could be on the horizon for the Tigers. Top-10 cornerback Jaboree Antoine is expected to announce his commitment this week. Antoine, a native of Corey Raymond’s hometown of New Iberia, had previously committed to LSU before reopening his recruitment to consider Miami, among others. Additionally, four-star safety CJ Jimcoily from Nashville is also heavily considering LSU and may soon decide to join the Tigers’ safety class.
