Two Relievers the Twins Should Target to Build the Best Bullpen in the League
Mason Miller, Oakland A’s
The Oakland Athletics are in a constant state of rebuilding and are open to offers for some of their top players at the trade deadline. Despite their willingness to sell, acquiring Miller would come at a high price for the Twins, but it would be a worthwhile investment.
The 25-year-old Miller has been nearly unhittable this year, boasting a 2.21 ERA, a 0.836 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts in just 40 2/3 innings. Besides his impressive stats, he is not a rental player; Miller will be under team control until 2030 and is on a budget-friendly contract.
To secure Miller, the Twins will face stiff competition but have the assets to complete the deal. It would likely require a couple of top prospects, starting with Emmanuel Rodriguez. However, this acquisition would give the Twins the best bullpen in baseball for years to come.

The Twins already have Griffin Jax, who has been pitching at an All-Star level this season, Jhoan Durán, one of the best closers in baseball, and reliable secondary pieces in Staumont, Okert, and Jorge Alcalá. Adding Miller would instantly elevate the Twins’ bullpen to be the most feared in the league, as he has consistently dominated some of the league’s best hitters.
Additionally, Miller’s presence would provide insurance against potential injury issues. While acquiring him would be costly, young talent with long-term team control is rarely available.
