Good News: 4-star Cornerback Revealed why He committed to Miami Hurricanes Over Top Rivals…

On Saturday, the Miami football program secured a commitment from four-star cornerback Jaboree Antoine. In an interview with Chad Simmons of On3, Antoine shared that his decision came down to LSU and the Hurricanes. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Antoine is the 71st prospect nationally, the eighth-ranked cornerback, and the second-best player in Louisiana for the 2025 class.

Antoine’s commitment to Miami was unexpected. While 247Sports’ crystal ball had predicted he would choose LSU, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine correctly projected his commitment to Miami. With Antoine’s decision, Miami’s 2025 class moved up to eighth place nationally, surpassing Clemson, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.

Miami has already secured commitments from four-star prospect Chris Ewald and three-star Timothy Merritt at cornerback. Antoine is the second-highest-ranked commit in Miami’s 2025 class, behind safety Hylton Stubbs. The Hurricanes are building an elite secondary for the 2025 class, which also includes four-star safety Amari Wallace.

Antoine informed Miami head coach Mario Cristobal of his decision on Friday, as he told Josh Newburg of On3. Miami managed to secure Antoine’s commitment despite him being from Louisiana, a state where LSU usually dominates. Miami’s defensive backs coach Chevis Jackson, an LSU alum, and defensive coordinator Lance Guidry, a Louisiana native, played crucial roles in recruiting Antoine.

At 6’1″ and 175 pounds, Antoine brings excellent length to Miami’s secondary. With Antoine and Stubbs, Miami now has two top 100 players in the secondary according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Miami is on track to sign the top class in the ACC and a top 10 class nationally for the third consecutive year.

Defensive backs coach Chevis Jackson has been the primary recruiter for Antoine, Ewald, and Merritt. Jackson’s connection to LSU likely made Antoine’s commitment particularly satisfying for him.

Antoine is the fifth player to commit to Miami in July, joining center Seuseu Alofaituli, linebacker Gavin Nix, Stubbs, and wide receiver Daylyn Upshaw. Alofaituli, Nix, Stubbs, and Antoine are the top four ranked players in Miami’s 2025 class according to 247Sports rankings.
