Braves Make Corresponding Roster Move Ahead of Cardinals Series

During the All-Star break, the Braves made a roster adjustment, outrighting Brian Anderson to Triple-A Gwinnett. This left many speculating about the corresponding move. Today, the club announced they have reinstated outfielder Ramon Laureano from the injured list.

Ideally, the Braves would have seen Michael Harris II return from the IL, but Laureano still represents an upgrade for the outfield.

In his 11 games and 25 plate appearances for Atlanta, Laureano is hitting .257 with one home run and five doubles, contributing to a .714 OPS. His performance is 5% below the league average (95 wRC+), but it is a notable improvement over the previous outfield options in the wake of injuries to Ronald Acuna Jr. and Michael Harris II.

The hope is that Eddie Rosario, Adam Duvall, and Ramon Laureano can provide enough support over the next few weeks leading up to the trade deadline. These players are ideally suited for bench and platoon roles and will likely be moved to those positions when General Manager Alex Anthopoulos brings in additional outfielders at the deadline.
