SHOCKING NEWS: Rocco Baldelli Provides Worrying Injury Udates Involving Carlos Correa and Two Key Players…

The Minnesota Twins have placed Carlos Correa and Chris Paddack on the injured list ahead of their game against the Brewers on Saturday evening. Correa has been moved to the 10-day IL with plantar fasciitis, while Paddack is on the 15-day IL with a right forearm strain. To fill the roster spots, Edouard Julien has been recalled from AAA St. Paul, and Austin Martin has been reinstated from the IL.

Correa now joins Royce Lewis and Jose Miranda on the IL, sidelining three of the Twins’ top infielders and hitters. Correa, one of the Twins’ two All-Stars, has been hitting .308 with a 151 OPS+ this year. With Correa out, Willi Castro, the Twins’ other All-Star, is expected to take over most of the playing time at shortstop. Correa’s IL stint is retroactive to July 16th, and the team is hopeful he won’t be out for an extended period.

Paddack’s placement on the IL leaves a gap in the Twins’ starting rotation. To address this, the Twins will eventually need to make a roster move to add another pitcher. For now, Pablo Lopez and Joe Ryan will start in the two-game series against Milwaukee. Paddack has posted a 4.99 ERA this season. Louie Varland and David Festa, who have both started for the Twins this season, are the likely candidates from St. Paul to fill the spot.

The returns of Julien and Martin provide the Twins with much-needed infield depth during Correa’s absence. Julien has hit .207 with seven homers in 58 games for the Twins this season, after boasting a 130 OPS+ as a rookie last year and showing recent hot streaks for the Saints. Martin, capable of playing both infield and outfield, is hitting .265 in 47 games this season.
