Braves Secure Top Talent
The Braves successfully selected Cam Caminiti in the first round, defying expectations that he would require an over-slot signing bonus. According to Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline, Caminiti is signing for the slot value, allowing the Braves to allocate funds toward other major prep talents from later rounds.
Caminiti: A Gem in the Draft
Caminiti, a top prep arm in the 2024 MLB draft, was unexpectedly available to the Braves at 24th overall. The Braves seized the opportunity to draft the LSU commit, and despite the anticipated expense, it is a relative bargain given his talent. At just 17 years old, Caminiti reclassified from the 2025 class to start his professional career early and is now one of the top prospects in Atlanta’s system. His fastball already reaches 97 mph, with potential for increased velocity, and his changeup is advanced for his age. The main concern has been his feel for spin, but his slider and curveball showed improvement this season. The Braves’ strong pitching development program will continue to refine his skills.

Future Investments
The Braves have nearly $1.2 million left to spend, as detailed in their signing tracker. A significant portion is expected to go toward signing 6th-round pick Nick Montgomery, who will command an overslot bonus. The remaining funds will likely be used to entice 12th-round pick Cayman Goode and 20th-round pick Eric Hartman away from their Division-I commitments.
