The Golden State Warriors have made a notable addition to their roster, signing unrestricted free agent Daeqwon Plowden after his impressive performances in the Summer League.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Plowden has agreed to a two-way contract with the Warriors. The 25-year-old wing previously spent time with the New Orleans Pelicans, Orlando Magic, and the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Summer League team last year but has yet to make an NBA appearance.
Uncertainty Surrounding Quinten Post’s Future
Plowden, a 6’6″ wing, has averaged 16.6 points on 53.7% shooting from the floor and an impressive 48.1% from three-point range in five Summer League games, contributing to Golden State’s perfect 5-0 record since the start of the California Classic.
The signing of Plowden introduces uncertainty regarding the franchise’s plans for recently drafted big man Quinten Post, who was expected to secure the final two-way roster spot. This decision leaves questions about the future of the 52nd overall pick.
Currently, the Warriors have Plowden alongside guards Reece Beekman and Pat Spencer as two-way contracted players. Both Beekman and Spencer have missed recent Summer League games due to injury.
Financial Constraints and Roster Moves
The Warriors have one main roster spot available but are financially constrained, positioned just below the first tax apron. This limits their ability to sign Post or any other player to that spot. While they could waive the non-guaranteed contracts of Lindy Waters III or Gui Santos to create room, this outcome appears unlikely.

A more probable scenario is that Golden State might waive either Spencer or Beekman to open up one of the two-way slots for Post. Considering that all three current two-way players are guards standing 6’6″ or shorter, while Post is the only player around the team taller than 6’9″, this seems a likely move.
Despite starting Summer League with an injury, there is optimism that Post could return from a minor foot injury for the Warriors’ final two games, beginning with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. This return could further influence the Warriors’ roster decisions as they navigate the complexities of their team composition and financial limitations.
