Florida State has made a significant addition to their 2025 recruiting class by securing a commitment from Texas-based wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon. This comes after a competitive recruiting battle against top programs such as USC, Ohio State, Texas, and SMU.
Wide receivers coach Ron Dugans, tight ends coach Chris Thomsen, and head coach Mike Norvell played crucial roles in bringing McCutcheon to FSU. The Seminoles received McCutcheon’s final official visit from June 21-23, which solidified their position in his decision-making process.
“Main highlights for me was being able to hang out with the players, the people and the staff. They really showed great hospitality and I really enjoyed my time with them,” McCutcheon said after his official visit to FSU.
McCutcheon, projected to serve as a slot wideout at the next level, becomes the second wide receiver to join FSU’s 2025 class, following Milton (Ga.) four-star wideout CJ Wiley. This brings FSU’s 2025 recruiting class to 12 commitments, now ranked 17th nationally.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 221 prospect and No. 26 wide receiver according to the Top247 Rankings, McCutcheon is also the No. 93 overall player and No. 14 pass catcher in the country according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.
In 2023, the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder recorded 92 receptions for 1,430 yards and 20 touchdowns, showcasing his talent and potential.

McCutcheon is a quick-footed receiver with enormous production against Texas 5A competition in the DFW Metroplex. His ability to change speeds enhances his run-after-catch ability and route-running skills. Despite his verified size, he plays larger, demonstrating strong hands and the capability to make highlight-reel catches. His route-running is polished, and he effectively utilizes his school’s scheme to maximize targets, evidenced by his 92-1,430-20 receiving line as a junior.
While he can still find another gear at the top end, his 22-1 long jump personal record highlights his explosiveness, and his testing data is promising. McCutcheon is a well-rounded receiver with impressive position-specific nuances and sneaky good athleticism, projecting as a high-major recruit with potential for long-term NFL Draft consideration.
