Hall Expected Back
Devin Williams isn’t the only pitcher the Brewers are anticipating returning soon. DL Hall has made nine minor league rehab appearances between Wisconsin and AAA Nashville, with Tuesday’s start expected to be his final tune-up before rejoining the Brewers. Despite suffering a setback when he was hit by a comebacker in the third inning of his last outing, manager Pat Murphy and general manager Matt Arnold are confident in Hall’s imminent return. Arnold mentioned the plan to keep Hall stretched out, preparing him for a starting role.
Additionally, Joe Ross is nearing his return. Ross has made two minor league rehab starts, pitching into the fourth inning without allowing an earned run. With another start or two, he should be fully stretched out and ready to rejoin the MLB rotation.
Rotation and Bullpen Adjustments
With these reinforcements, the Brewers face decisions on how to utilize their returning pitchers. Devin Williams will likely resume his role in the late innings, bolstering a bullpen that has struggled heading into the All-Star break. The roles for DL Hall and Joe Ross are less clear.
