Breaking: Bruins’ GM Don Sweeney Confirmed Big Boost with the Signing Two-Experienced defensive Talents…

The Bruins continued to bolster their organizational depth on Friday, re-signing two defensemen who are expected to start the season in Providence.

The B’s inked 24-year-old Michael Callahan and 23-year-old Alec Regula to one-year, two-way contracts, each carrying an NHL cap hit of $775,000.

Callahan, a Franklin native and Providence College alumnus, played 70 games for the P-Bruins last season, recording four goals and 13 assists.

Regula, who joined the Bruins’ organization through the Taylor Hall trade, posted four goals and 22 assists with a plus-36 rating in 55 games for Providence last season.

Following the recent signing of Nikita Zadorov, the Bruins appear well-equipped at the NHL level with Zadorov, Hampus Lindholm, and Mason Lohrei on the left side, and Charlie McAvoy, Brandon Carlo, and Andrew Peeke on the right, with Parker Wotherspoon serving as the seventh defenseman.

However, Callahan, a left-shot defenseman, and Regula, a right-shot defenseman, are likely top candidates for call-ups in the event of injuries.
