Breaking: Twins Rocco Baldelli Named an Ideal Replacement for Jose Altuve in MLB All-Star Game…

Carlos Correa isn’t the only Minnesota Twins player heading to Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game this year.

On Thursday, the Twins and MLB announced that utility infielder Willi Castro will make his first All-Star Game appearance. Castro is stepping in for Houston Astros infielder Jose Altuve, who is unable to participate due to injury.

Castro has been a key player for the Twins this season, appearing in all 93 games. The Twins boast a 53-40 record, vying for the American League Central Division title and a strong position in the Wild Card Playoffs. Castro is batting .268 with seven home runs, five triples, 22 doubles, and 29 RBIs in 328 at-bats. He has been instrumental in the team’s success, especially with Royce Lewis dealing with injuries.

Defensively, Castro has been a reliable presence at second base, shortstop, and third base. In 159 total chances in the infield, he has made just four errors and recorded 88 assists. Additionally, Castro has contributed in the outfield, playing 43 games between center and left field.
