Breaking: Alex Anthopoulos Provides Positive Updates as Braves Engage in ‘Preliminary’ Trade Talks with 2 Promising 0utfielder Ahead of Deadline…

Despite trailing the Philadelphia Phillies by eight games in the National League East, the Atlanta Braves’ 49-39 record positions them in the first wild card spot in the NL. However, the season hasn’t unfolded as planned, prompting potential significant moves at the trade deadline.

The Braves have faced numerous challenges, from key player struggles to season-ending injuries to stars like Ronald Acuna Jr. and Spencer Strider. These setbacks have highlighted the need for roster reinforcements, and the team has already started exploring options for outfield help on the trade market.

“President of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos is already exploring the market for outfielders, engaging in preliminary discussions with clubs, according to sources briefed on his conversations. But Charlie Morton is 40. Reynaldo López is starting for the first time since 2019. And Chris Sale has a long injury history. The Braves want to continue building in extra rest for their starters. They might need to supplement the current group, too.” – Ken Rosenthal, The Athletic

Braves Proactive in Seeking Outfield Help Ahead of Trade Deadline

The Braves’ outfield has been significantly impacted this season. The loss of Acuna to a torn ACL was a major blow, and recently, Michael Harris II has been sidelined with a hamstring strain. Jarred Kelenic is the only starting outfielder currently available.

Atlanta Braves left fielder Eli White (36) and center fielder Jarred Kelenic (24) and right fielder Adam Duvall (14) celebrate after a victory as mascot Blooper looks on against the Philadelphia Phillies at Truist Park.

Given these circumstances, it’s no surprise that outfield help is a priority for the Braves as the trade deadline approaches. Although Harris is nearing a return, his performance before the injury was subpar, and fourth outfielder Adam Duvall has struggled, hitting just .184 this season.

Fortunately, several outfielders are likely to be available by the deadline. Atlanta could benefit from acquiring veterans like Tommy Pham or Kevin Pillar, or they might consider pricier options like Luis Robert Jr. or Jazz Chisholm Jr.

While the Braves have other needs, such as bolstering their starting rotation, outfield is their most pressing concern. The front office is already making efforts to address this weakness. Who they will acquire remains uncertain, but Atlanta is definitely a team to watch as the trade deadline approaches.
