SAD NEWS: Mike Sullivan Faced With Major Setback as Penguins Confirm the Departure of the 27-year-old Sensational Star…

The Pittsburgh Penguins have confirmed the departure of forward Jansen Harkins, who has signed a two-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks. The deal is worth an average annual value (AAV) of $775,000 in 2024-25 and $800,000 in 2025-26.

Harkins, claimed off waivers, spent the 2023-24 season with the Penguins and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. During his time with Pittsburgh, Harkins appeared in 45 games and tallied four assists. In the AHL, he notched five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 14 games.

The 27-year-old underwent hand surgery in March following an injury sustained in a fight with then-Washington Capitals forward Beck Malenstyn.

Before joining the Penguins, Harkins spent six seasons with the Winnipeg Jets organization. Selected 47th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft by Winnipeg, Harkins made his NHL debut in the 2019-20 season. Over parts of six seasons with the Penguins and Jets, he has accumulated 13 goals and 31 points in 199 games. Harkins has also appeared in four Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring one goal.
