Breaking: Golden Knights Coach Bruce Casssidy Shares Shocking Updates as the Knights Recieved Major Boost Ahead of the 2024 Season…

Vegas Golden Knights Sign Ilya Samsonov; Re-sign Pavel Dorofeyev and Kaedan Korczak…

The Vegas Golden Knights have strengthened their goaltending roster by signing Ilya Samsonov to a one-year deal worth $1.8 million. This move follows the recent trade of Logan Thompson to the Washington Capitals, positioning Samsonov to work in tandem with Adin Hill.

Samsonov, 27, spent the past two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs on one-year contracts. During his tenure, he posted a 50-17-13 record and contributed significantly to the Leafs’ playoff success, notably being the goalie when the Leafs ended a 19-year drought without a playoff series victory by beating Tampa Bay in the first round last year. However, injuries and inconsistent play led to his placement on waivers midway through the 2023-24 season, where he was ultimately outplayed by Joseph Woll. Samsonov now looks to revive his career in Vegas.

Additionally, the Golden Knights have re-signed winger Pavel Dorofeyev and defenseman Kaedan Korczak to two-year deals after they became restricted free agents on Monday.

Dorofeyev, 23, will earn $1.835 million per season over the next two years. In his first full season without AHL intervention, he played 47 games, scoring 13 goals and 24 points, making him one of the more productive rookies per 60 minutes. Over three years since coming from the KHL, Dorofeyev has scored 20 goals and 33 points in 67 games.

Korczak, 23, split his time equally between the NHL and AHL last season, recording one goal and nine points in 26 games across both leagues. Over three years, he has accumulated one goal and 11 points in 37 games. His brother, Ryder Korczak, has another year left on his deal with the New York Rangers.

These strategic signings and re-signings by the Golden Knights aim to bolster their roster and set the stage for a competitive 2024 season.
