Breaking: The surging Milwaukee Brewers Recall Another the 25-year-old Talenet Amid Injury Woes…

The Milwaukee Brewers, riding a five-game winning streak, will look to rookie right-hander Tobias Myers to keep the momentum going against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday afternoon in the second game of their three-game series. Myers (5-2, 3.12 ERA) will face off against Cubs’ left-hander Justin Steele (0-3, 3.08 ERA).

In Friday’s series opener, rookie Jackson Chourio hit his first career grand slam off Jameson Taillon, leading the Brewers to a 4-2 victory. Milwaukee, now at a season-high 16 games over .500, has hit four grand slams in the past six games. Starter Colin Rea pitched 5 1/3 innings, giving up two runs, while the bullpen shut out the Cubs for the remainder. Trevor Megill secured his 17th save in 18 attempts with a flawless ninth inning. Seiya Suzuki homered for the Cubs, who left the bases loaded in the seventh. Chicago has struggled, going 2-6 in its last eight games and scoring only 13 runs in the six losses, losing 15 of their last 20 road games.

“We need to score more runs, no doubt,” said Cubs manager Craig Counsell. “It takes effort in all areas to win, and we’re not doing that enough right now.”

Chourio, 20, has been on fire, batting .328 with four homers and 15 RBIs over his last 21 games. “The kid is learning,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said. “He’s making the most of his opportunities.”

Myers, who is 4-0 with a 0.71 ERA in June, has not lost in his last eight starts since a May 4 loss to the Cubs. In his most recent outing, he allowed one run over five innings with three strikeouts in a 6-2 victory over San Diego. “He’s working hard and taking his chance seriously,” Murphy said. “He didn’t expect to be here, but he’s making the most of it.”

Tobias Myers' first Major League strikeout

Myers spent most of last season at Double-A Biloxi with a 5.03 ERA and previously struggled with a 7.82 ERA in Triple-A in 2022.

Steele, set for his 12th start, is still seeking his first win despite posting a 1.69 ERA in June. He has struck out 17 batters in his last two starts against the Giants, with a solid 2.00 ERA in 14 career games against Milwaukee. Earlier this season, he pitched seven scoreless innings against the Brewers in a no-decision
