Carde Smith, a four-star in-state offensive lineman, has decommitted from Auburn.
After committing to Auburn on April 10, Carde Smith has decided to back off his pledge to the Tigers.
“After days of deep thought and prayer, I have decided to decommit from Auburn University,” Smith announced in a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “This was a very hard decision for me and my family. I would like to thank the entire Auburn coaching staff for the time, effort, and energy that they put into recruiting me.”

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 293 pounds, Smith is ranked as the No. 15 prospect in Alabama and the No. 26 offensive tackle in the class of 2025 by 247Sports.
When Smith committed in April, the Mobile native chose Auburn over schools like Florida State and Mississippi State. Recently, USC has emerged as a contender in Smith’s recruitment, with him making a trip to Los Angeles last weekend.

Smith holds over two dozen offers as he heads into his senior year of high school.
Despite Smith’s decommitment, Auburn’s 2025 class still includes 15 commits, four of whom are offensive linemen. Hugh Freeze’s recruiting efforts have placed Auburn’s 2025 class at No. 6 in the country, according to 247Sports.
