Tennessee continues to heat up on the recruiting trail, securing a commitment from three-star defensive back Tre Poteat on Tuesday. The Wisconsin native, part of the class of 2025, chose the Volunteers over offers from notable programs like Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, and Penn State. Wisconsin was the only other school to host Poteat on an official visit, while Tennessee hosted him just last weekend.
According to 247Sports, Poteat is ranked as the 545th overall prospect in his class. He stands as the 48th ranked cornerback and the fourth-ranked player in the state of Wisconsin. The 6-0, 175-pound athlete from Verona Area High School plans to enroll early this winter.
Tre Poteat is the son of former NFL cornerback Hank Poteat, who enjoyed a ten-season career in the league and now coaches cornerbacks at Iowa State.

Poteat joins fellow three-star cornerbacks Dylan Lewis and Tyler Redmond, as well as three-star safety Sidney Walton, in Tennessee’s 2025 secondary class. With Poteat’s commitment, Tennessee now boasts 15 commitments, propelling their class ranking to No. 12, according to 247Sports.
