Breaking: Texas Rangers GM Chris Young Makes Shocking Announcement Amid Team’s Roster Moves
Texas Rangers general manager Chris Young announced several significant roster moves on Wednesday, aiming to ignite the offense for the defending World Series champions.
“We can’t sit back and wait, hoping that it comes together. It’s time for us to get going. It’s time for us offensively to perform like the team we know we can be,” said Young.
“I have great confidence in all of these players, but for various reasons, we just haven’t performed to the level we were expecting.”
As part of the changes, the Rangers have selected the contract of outfielder Derek Hill from Triple-A Round Rock. Hill had a brief stint with the Rangers earlier this season, hitting .222 in five games from May 21 to June 2. Meanwhile, infielder Ezequiel Duran has been optioned to Round Rock after hitting .256 with two homers and 13 RBIs in 58 games.
The team also activated infielder Justin Foscue from the injured list and subsequently optioned him to Round Rock. Additionally, right-hander Cole Winn has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list due to a right shoulder sprain, and right-hander Yerry Rodríguez has been designated for assignment.
Entering Wednesday, the Rangers sit at 37-42, five games below .500, and in third place in the AL West, trailing the Seattle Mariners by 6½ games.
The Rangers had scored a total of four runs in dropping two straight to the Brewers going into the series finale.
“Sometimes you´ve got to try to shake things up, we´re looking for a spark,” manager Bruce Bochy said.
