The Key to Bulldog Happiness: Making Today the Good Old Days
Kirby Smart continues to lead Georgia Football to new heights, creating a lasting legacy of success and community impact.
Smart’s Bulldogs Flexing Out
As the dynamic Chief Executive Officer of Georgia Football, Smart’s authenticity and deep love for the university are at the core of his success. Growing up dreaming of being a Bulldog, Smart’s journey from standout player to head coach is a testament to his dedication. His impact extends beyond the football field, with numerous altruistic endeavors benefitting Athens, the state of Georgia, and the university. This summer, the Kirby Smart Family Foundation will surpass $2 million in charitable gifts during the annual “Giving Day.”
Mastering Roster Management and Player Development
Smart and his staff have excelled in recruiting, identifying both top-tier talent and hidden gems. Their mastery of roster management and player development has been evident, with a record 15 Bulldogs selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, including five defensive first-round picks. In the 2020s, Georgia has produced more NFL players than any other school, showcasing a range of talents from “five stars” to walk-ons like Stetson Bennett. Bennett, who returned to Georgia after a junior college stint, became the MVP of four College Football Playoff victories and a Heisman finalist in 2022.
A Legacy of Success and High Expectations
These are extraordinary times for Georgia Football, and expectations remain sky-high. In an era of unprecedented change, Smart’s leadership and loyalty shine brightly, providing stability in turbulent seas. As a wise coach once said, the key to happiness is making today the good old days. Under Smart’s guidance, the Bulldogs are living that philosophy, with many more memorable moments to come. Perhaps even on January 20 in Atlanta, celebrating amidst a shower of confetti.
