Five 2024 NHL Draft Targets at Forward for the Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins have reclaimed their position in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft, securing the 25th pick from the Ottawa Senators. This pick was initially part of the trade for forward Tyler Bertuzzi. Now, it is crucial in the return for goaltender Linus Ullmark as the Bruins aim to bolster their thin prospect pool. If General Manager Don Sweeney chooses to keep the pick, here are five forwards who could be available when it’s the Bruins’ turn to select:
Sacha Boisvert – Center, Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL)
Profile: The Bruins need offensive skills, and Boisvert can provide just that. The 6-foot-2, 183-pound center, committed to North Dakota this season, is ranked 20th in the Inside The Rink draft prospect rankings. The 18-year-old boasts an effective wrist shot and impressive scoring ability. Inside The Rink describes Boisvert as a versatile goal scorer with excellent stickhandling skills, making him a valuable asset. Last season, he was a point-per-game player, excelling in both goal scoring and playmaking.
Cole Beaudoin – Center, Barrie Colts (OHL)
Profile: Beaudoin, standing at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, uses his size to create havoc in front of the net. Ranked 32nd by Inside The Rink, the 18-year-old had a productive season with Barrie, scoring 28 goals and 34 assists. His quick and accurate shot release, combined with his ability to win battles, makes him a formidable player. Beaudoin’s shot release is described as sneaky and effective, adding to his potential as a secondary scoring asset.
Jett Luchanko – Center, Guelph Storm (OHL)
Profile: Luchanko is considered a legitimate pro prospect with an elite skill set and high hockey IQ. The 17-year-old, who replaced Boston’s Matt Poitras at Guelph, had a remarkable 74-point season. Standing at 5-foot-11 and 183 pounds, Luchanko showcases elite playmaking ability, impressive speed, and a fantastic work ethic. Dean Letourneau – Center, St. Andrew’s College (Prep)
Profile: At 6-foot-7 and 209 pounds, Letourneau is a massive forward with scoring ability and skill to match his size. The 18-year-old opted for prep school instead of the USHL and is considered a bit of a project. His heavy shot and net-front presence are notable strengths. Ranked 37th by Inside The Rink, improved skating could unlock Letourneau’s full potential.
Marek Vanacker – Left Wing, Brantford Bulldogs (OHL)
Profile: Although not a center, Vanacker is a proven goal scorer. The 18-year-old netted 36 goals in 68 games this season and excels at back-checking and finishing. Ranked 47th by Inside The Rink and 28th by TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Vanacker has the potential to be a second-line left-winger with 30-goal-per-season capabilities. With the right team and linemates, he could consistently shine and exceed expectations.
The Bruins are in search of front-end offensive talent in this draft, and these prospects could make their 25th pick, and the Linus Ullmark trade, highly beneficial.
