The Miami Heat are among several teams connected to former University of Colorado Boulder star Tristan Da Silva as the 2024 NBA Draft approaches, scheduled for June 26.
Miami Heat’s Interest in Tristan Da Silva
“Da Silva was a surprising omission from the NBA’s early green-room list, but he may still earn an invitation, with firm interest inside the top 20,” wrote Jeremy Woo. “He has interest as high as Memphis at No. 9, but will likely fall into the next range, where several playoff-caliber teams, including the Sacramento Kings, Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, and Los Angeles Lakers, are all interested in his services.”
Tristan Da Silva’s College Career
Da Silva, one of the more experienced players in his draft class at 23 years old, played four seasons of college basketball at Colorado. The German native had a modest start in his collegiate career. During his first season in 2020-21, he averaged 2.7 points and 1.0 rebound per game across 24 games without starting any.
In his sophomore season, Da Silva emerged as a versatile role player, averaging 9.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 0.6 steals per game. His breakthrough came in his junior year, where he became one of the nation’s most talented two-way players, averaging 15.9 points per game with impressive shooting percentages of 49.6 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from three-point range. He started 33 of the 35 games he played that season, also contributing 4.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
In his senior year, Da Silva’s performance remained consistent with his junior season. He averaged 16.0 points per game with nearly identical shooting splits—49.3 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from deep. The notable improvement in his final season was in his playmaking, as his assists per game increased from 1.3 to 2.4.
Potential Fit with the Miami Heat
The Miami Heat’s interest in Da Silva highlights their focus on adding experienced and versatile players to their roster. Da Silva’s consistent performance, coupled with his increased playmaking ability, makes him a valuable prospect for teams looking to strengthen their lineup with a mature and adaptable player.
As the draft approaches, the Heat and other interested teams will closely monitor Da Silva’s progress and potential impact at the professional level.
