Homestead four-star wide receiver Cortez Mills announced on Tuesday morning via X that he is no longer taking his official visit with the Miami football program this weekend.
Mills, a highly sought-after 2025 prospect who had been trending toward Miami according to On3, has more recently been leaning towards Clemson. 247Sports now projects Mills to the Tigers, with multiple crystal ball predictions favoring Clemson.
National Recruiting Analyst Tom Loy gave his 247Sports crystal ball for Mills to Clemson on June 10. Following suit, Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U and Austin Hannon of Clemson247 made similar predictions on June 12. Loy published an article on June 13 declaring Clemson the outright leader for Mills.
Mills has previously taken official visits to Nebraska, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Florida, according to his On3 profile. Despite Miami hosting Mills eight times for unofficial visits between January 2023 and March 2024, the Hurricanes have been focusing on other wide receiver targets in recent weeks, including Vernell Brown III, Jaime Ffrench, and Dallas Wilson.
Wilson visited Miami last weekend, while Brown and Ffrench took their official visits starting on June 11. Miami currently does not have a wide receiver committed for the 2024 class. Wilson is committed to Oregon, and multiple crystal ball predictions suggest Brown and Ffrench might choose Ohio State.

Ffrench has recently stated that LSU, Miami, and Texas are his top three choices. Among the four wide receivers mentioned, Ffrench is the only five-star prospect, while Brown, Mills, and Wilson are all four-star prospects. Tom Loy of 247Sports has described Mills as “one of the most talented offensive playmakers in the class of 2025.”
As a junior in 2023, Mills had an impressive 79 receptions for 1,640 yards and 18 touchdowns, according to Andrew Ivins of 247Sports. Standing at 6’1″ and 170 pounds, Mills has good length but will need to add muscle mass in college. This weekend marks the last of the summer official visits, but Mills could potentially reschedule an official visit to Miami in the fall if both parties agree.
