SAD NEWS: Washington Commanders’ Confirm the Departure Of Another Key Player…

Washington Commanders’ Star Poised for Breakout in 2024 NFL Season

The Washington Commanders are experiencing a wave of optimism. With an overhauled front office led by rising general manager Adam Peters and new head coach Dan Quinn, there’s renewed belief that this new era could make the Commanders immediate contenders. The team is particularly excited about No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels, who will be taking the helm as quarterback this fall.

Peters and his team have effectively utilized ample cap space and high draft picks to enhance the roster’s talent. Among the returning players, one is already emerging as a premier player in his position across the NFL.

The Case for Sam Cosmi as Washington Commanders Breakout Star

Offensive guard Sam Cosmi is set to play a crucial role in protecting Jayden Daniels during his rookie season. Pro Football Focus’ Thomas Valentine ranked Cosmi as the No. 3 offensive guard in the league.

Washington Commanders, Sam Cosmi

“Cosmi was quietly one of the best guards in the NFL in 2023,” Valentine noted for PFF. “His 80.6 overall grade ranked fifth at the position, and he had seven games with a grade of 80.0 or higher. Despite this, Cosmi didn’t receive the attention he deserved in his first full season as a starter.

“He spent most of his first two NFL seasons at right tackle for the Commanders before switching to guard in 2023. His 4.3% pressure rate allowed last year was the 19th lowest at the position.”

Cosmi has been a stabilizing force on an otherwise inconsistent offensive line and is poised for a breakout in 2024. Last season, he allowed just one sack and four quarterback hits. If he maintains that level of performance, it will significantly aid Daniels’ transition to the NFL and help unlock his potential.
