Breaking: Texas Football Hit With Big Setback Amid Recruit Of the 22-year-old Sensational Star…

Texas Football Faces Setback in Recruitment of 5-Star WR!

Jaime Ffrench No Longer Favors Texas

Texas football might be losing a top recruit. Five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench, a standout from Jacksonville, Florida, is no longer listing Texas as his leading choice. According to On3, Ffrench’s recent visit to LSU has changed his recruitment landscape.

“I don’t have a leader,” Ffrench told Sports Illustrated. “LSU changed it, they made it competitive. But those top schools, everyone is in right now. It’s very open right now.”

Ffrench, part of the 2025 recruiting class, had an impressive 2023 season with 62 receptions for 1,247 yards and 14 touchdowns. His sophomore year saw him with 671 receiving yards.

Schools in the Running

Ffrench is considering several schools, including Texas, LSU, Miami, Tennessee, and Florida State. He plans to announce his college decision on August 30. Despite the uncertainty, Texas remains in contention and hopes to secure the blue-chip recruit. Ffrench is scheduled to visit Texas from June 21-23. He is highly ranked, being the No. 23 player nationally in the On3 industry ranking.

Texas Football’s Upcoming Challenges

The 2024 season marks a significant transition for Texas football as it moves to the SEC, joining Oklahoma in leaving the Big 12. Texas is coming off a College Football Playoff appearance, where it lost to Washington in the semifinals. The Longhorns also clinched the Big 12 title in their final year in the conference.

With quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning leading the team, Texas aims to compete strongly in the SEC. This transition won’t be easy, as the SEC is known for its competitive environment dominated by powerhouses like Alabama and Georgia. However, changes are afoot with legendary coach Nick Saban’s retirement from Alabama.

Looking Ahead

Securing Ffrench would be a significant boost for Texas as it navigates this transition. The Longhorns kick off their 2024 season on August 31 against Colorado State, followed by a major non-conference game against Michigan. Their first SEC game will be on September 28 against Mississippi State.

While the recruitment of Jaime Ffrench has hit a snag, Texas football remains hopeful and focused on its future in the SEC.
