Report: Ravens Hosting Tryout for D.C. Defenders Edge Rusher

The Baltimore Ravens are set to host a tryout for Malik Fisher, an edge rusher from the D.C. Defenders.

According to James Larsen of Pro Football Newsroom, the Ravens will evaluate former Villanova defensive end Malik Fisher during next week’s minicamp.

Fisher has been a dominant force for the D.C. Defenders in the United Football League over the past two seasons. In the recent 10-game season, he recorded 33 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and seven sacks, including a strip-sack that he recovered. His seven sacks tied him for second-most in the UFL.

Anthony Miller of Sports Illustrated noted that Fisher’s outstanding performance was overlooked for the All-UFL Team.

“If the league wanted to include the best pass rushers, they missed defensive end Malik Fisher who harassed quarterbacks all season,” Miller wrote. “Fisher finished tied for second in the league in sacks with seven while adding 33 tackles, seven tackles for loss and three pass breakups. While Houston Roughnecks pass rusher Chris Odom had a good season, Fisher was more efficient and should have been selected.”

Before joining the Defenders, Fisher played college football at Villanova from 2017 to 2021. He started in 42 games and wrapped up his senior season with 51 tackles, four sacks, and an interception.
