49ers Sign TE Logan Thomas; Waive DL Raymond Johnson III
The San Francisco 49ers have announced the signing of tight end Logan Thomas to a one-year contract. To make space on the roster, they have waived defensive lineman Raymond Johnson III.
Logan Thomas (6-6, 250) was initially drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round (120th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. Over his eight-year NFL career, he has played for the Cardinals (2014), Buffalo Bills (2017-18), Detroit Lions (2019), and Washington Commanders (2020-23). In 94 games (57 starts), Thomas has recorded 219 receptions for 2,002 yards and 16 touchdowns. In the 2023 season, Thomas played in 16 games (15 starts) for the Commanders, finishing with 55 receptions for 496 yards and four touchdowns.
Thomas, a 32-year-old from Lynchburg, VA, attended Virginia Tech University (2010-13), where he played quarterback. During his college career, he appeared in 44 games, completing 589 passes for 6,031 yards and 40 touchdowns.
Raymond Johnson III (6-3, 264) signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent on February 15, 2024.
