49ers Draft Florida Receiver Ricky Pearsall with 30th Pick
SAN FRANCISCO – On Thursday night, the San Francisco 49ers selected Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall with the 30th pick in the NFL draft, providing potential insurance if they cannot secure a long-term deal with Brandon Aiyuk.
Pearsall, who caught 65 passes for 965 yards and scored four touchdowns last season at Florida, offers the 49ers a potential slot receiver. Known for his spectacular catches in college, Pearsall is the latest addition to an already dynamic offense that reached the Super Bowl last season.
This draft marked the first time the 49ers had a first-round pick since 2021 when they selected quarterback Trey Lance third overall. San Francisco had traded their first-round picks in 2022 and 2023 to move up nine spots that year to select Lance, who started only four games for the team before being traded to Dallas last August.
For now, San Francisco has retained both of its star receivers, Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, despite rumors of a possible trade to move up in the draft. The 49ers still need to secure a long-term deal for Aiyuk as he enters the final year of his rookie contract.
