Breaking: Florida State Confirms Major Boost With the Addition of Another Sensational Defensive Back Ahead of the 2024 Season…

Jalen Ramsey Facetimes 4-Star DB Recruit on Official Visit to Florida State

In a heartwarming moment for one of Florida State’s top recruits in the 2025 class, former Seminole star defensive back Jalen Ramsey lent a helping hand during the recruitment process.

FSU hosted Heathwood Hall (SC) four-star defensive back Onis Konanbanny over the weekend. On the first day of his visit, Konanbanny received a special Facetime call from Ramsey, who continues to support the Seminoles even after his illustrious college career.

Konanbanny is a highly sought-after recruit, also considering Tennessee, LSU, and North Carolina. However, Florida State has caught his attention, largely due to defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr.

“I’ve liked FSU ever since I started speaking with Coach [Greg] Moss. It would be great to be part of the ‘Noles because Coach [Patrick] Surtain is the GOAT,” Konanbanny shared in a recent interview. “The way he coaches defensive backs makes them very technical. If I want to be a technically sound corner, Coach Surtain is definitely the guy I trust.”

Originally from France, Konanbanny spent time in London before moving to the United States for high school. He played at Rabun-Gap Nacoochee in Georgia in 2022 and transferred to Heathwood Hall Episcopal in 2023.

Although Tennessee is currently favored to land Konanbanny, with recent predictions in their favor, Florida State is making a strong case. According to 247Sports Composite Rankings, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Konanbanny is the No. 296 overall prospect and No. 28 cornerback in the nation. He is also ranked as South Carolina’s No. 4 player in the 2025 class.

Jalen Ramsey, drafted fifth overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2016 NFL Draft, has had a stellar NFL career. He has started 117 games, recording 474 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and 22 interceptions. After several years with the Jaguars, Ramsey signed with the Miami Dolphins before the 2023 season. Despite an injury early in the season, he still managed three interceptions and is set to continue his career with the Dolphins in 2024.
