Breaking: LSU Tiger’s Five-Star Freshman Goes Viral Over His Comment To Head Coach Brian Kelly On Arrival…

Mocks Michigan’s QB Development After Choosing LSU Over Wolverines

Five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood recently discussed his recruitment journey in an interview with On3 Sports, revealing intriguing insights about his decision-making process. Underwood, the nation’s No. 1 player in the 2025 class, chose LSU over Michigan this past January. This week, he added fuel to the fire with comments that rubbed salt into the Wolverines’ wounds after they missed out on securing his commitment.

Underwood explained that LSU’s recent success in developing quarterbacks played a pivotal role in his decision. Highlighting the achievements of Jayden Daniels, who won the Heisman Trophy last season, and NFL star Joe Burrow, who led LSU to a national title within the last five years, Underwood saw a promising path for his own career in Baton Rouge. Despite both Daniels and Burrow transferring from other universities, their unparalleled success at LSU made a significant impression on Underwood.

While praising LSU’s quarterback development, Underwood also took a jab at Michigan’s recent history with the position. He struggled to name a top-flight Wolverine passer in recent memory, seemingly overlooking JJ McCarthy’s first-round draft selection this year, which came shortly after Daniels was picked at the No. 2 spot. McCarthy’s achievement marked only the second time a Michigan quarterback was selected in the first round, the first being Jim Harbaugh, who was taken 26th in the 1987 NFL Draft.

Since 2000, Michigan has had six quarterbacks drafted, starting with Tom Brady, a sixth-round pick who went on to achieve unprecedented success. However, the quarterbacks that followed—Drew Henson, John Navarre, Chad Henne, and Jake Rudock—did not reach the same heights. This historical context seemingly validated Underwood’s critique of Michigan’s quarterback development.

For Michigan fans, Underwood’s comments add insult to injury after losing out on the highly-touted recruit. As Underwood prepares to join the Tigers, all eyes will be on his journey to see if he can replicate the success of Burrow and Daniels in Baton Rouge.
