Breaking: Duke Basketball Hit With Big Setback Ahead Of the 2024 Season…

Duke Basketball will renew its storied rivalry with UNC at least one more time.

A familiar adversary is set to take on the Blue Devils again.

Duke’s non-conference schedule is already packed, and now it includes one of its fiercest rivals.

Arizona’s Caleb Love announced on Wednesday afternoon that he will be withdrawing from the 2024 NBA Draft and returning to school for his final year of eligibility.

The former North Carolina point guard entered the transfer portal last offseason, initially committing to Michigan. However, an issue with his academic credits prevented his admission to the school.

Love eventually landed with the Wildcats and returned to Durham last season to face the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium. In that game, he scored 11 points and committed six turnovers, shooting 3-of-10 from the field.

Despite his modest scoring, Love made a significant impact in the final moments by sinking his last four free throws in the final 20 seconds, each time extending Arizona’s lead to three points. He also forced a crucial Duke turnover in the final seconds with the Blue Devils trailing by a single possession.

Love ensured his presence was felt at Cameron after the final buzzer.

Caleb Love averaged 18.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.1 turnovers per game on 41.3% shooting, all career-best marks. He also dished out 3.4 assists and made 33.2% of his shots from 3-point range.

He was named the PAC-12 Player of the Year and an Associated Press Third Team All-American.

In his career against Duke, spanning eight games, Love has averaged 16.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 3.3 turnovers on 39.3% shooting from the floor and 29.4% from 3-point range.

Duke will visit Tucson on November 21 in the return game of its home-and-home series, marking the beginning of a west coast trip that includes a matchup with Kansas in Las Vegas on November 26.
