Breaking: Jon Scheyer Comments on Duke’s New Signing

Incoming Duke freshman Pat Ngongba is vying for a spot on the USA Basketball roster despite a challenging senior year due to a foot injury.

Ngongba’s Return to Action

Patrick Ngongba II, Duke Basketball’s incoming freshman center, missed most of his senior season at Paul VI Catholic High School due to a foot injury. However, he made a comeback towards the end of the season, helping his team compete in the GEICO National Championship. Although Paul VI won their fourth state championship with Ngongba and fellow Duke signee Darren Harris, they narrowly lost the title game to Cooper Flagg’s Montverde Academy.

USA Basketball Trials

Ngongba is currently participating in the USA Basketball U18 National Team Trials in Colorado Springs. Despite not being at full strength, he has impressed enough to make the first cut, showcasing his skill and potential among some of the top talents worldwide.

Looking Ahead

Speaking to the Team’s Media, Head Coach Jon Scheyer makes honest admission on the young talent.

“I see lots of abilities and talents in him. His Strength displayed by the young talent during trials I believe will strengthen our team heading into the 2024 season.

As Ngongba continues to recover and build his conditioning, his progress is being closely watched. His participation in the trials and his recovery from injury are promising signs for his future at Duke and beyond.
