In today’s edition of Auburn Tigers News, Auburn football secures another 2025 commitment, while the basketball team bolsters its roster with a new transfer.
Auburn Football Adds 2025 Commit
Over the weekend, 3-star cornerback Dante Core announced his commitment to Auburn football. Ranked as the #64 cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class and the #80 player from Florida, Core chose the Tigers after his second visit to the Plains on Saturday.
Initially committed to South Florida, Core reopened his recruitment last fall. Although he nearly committed to Auburn on A-Day, he decided to wait for his second visit to finalize his decision.
“I just felt like it is a great fit for me,” Core said, according to Auburn Undercover. “It feels like home. The hospitality is great. I’m ready to work. The feeling I get when I step on campus is surreal. I love all the staff, I love the coaches, and I love the culture they’re building here. It makes me feel at home every time I step foot on campus.”
With Core’s commitment, Auburn football now has 11 commits for their 2025 class, which is ranked #11 nationally.
Auburn Basketball Welcomes New Transfer
The Auburn basketball program also made headlines this weekend by adding former SMU forward Ja’Heim Hudson to their roster. Following a midweek visit with the Tigers, Hudson committed to Bruce Pearl’s squad, bringing one year of eligibility with him.
A native of Marietta, GA, Hudson started his collegiate career at Georgia State, where he played for two seasons before transferring to SMU. Last season, he was a crucial bench player for the Mustangs, averaging 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 43.4 percent from the field.
“It’s a huge deal,” Hudson said after his visit to the Plains on Thursday, according to Auburn Undercover. “I have dreamed of being on this type of stage, and now I’m getting the opportunity. It’s almost too good to be true. It’s definitely a great opportunity. I want to take the best route and make the most of it.”
With the additions of JP Pegues and Ja’Heim Hudson, the Tigers are still seeking another point guard to complete their roster.
