Exciting News: Bulldogs Secure Commitment from Highly Talented In-State WR Thomas Blackshear!
Georgia Bulldogs fans have reason to celebrate as the team announces the addition of another sensational talent to its roster.
In-state wide receiver Thomas Blackshear has chosen to commit to Georgia over Tennessee, marking a significant win for the Bulldogs. Hailing from Savannah, Blackshear, one of the area’s top players, opted for Georgia’s program over offers from Tennessee and Florida State.
The commitment of Blackshear underscores the ongoing success of James Coley’s recruiting efforts for Georgia’s 2025 class. Blackshear, the first wide receiver to join the class, expressed his excitement about becoming a Bulldog and credited Coach Coley for his role in sealing the deal.
“I texted Coach Coley and told him I’m ready to be a Dawg,” Blackshear revealed. “He called me, fired up and eager for me to join the team.”
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 197 pounds, Blackshear brings a combination of size, skill, and physicality to the wide receiver position. His decision to commit to Georgia came after careful consideration, with Blackshear highlighting the strong relationship he built with Coach Coley and the coaching staff.
During his high school career at Calvary Day (Ga.), Blackshear showcased his talent on both offense and defense. His impressive stats from last season, including 551 receiving yards and five touchdowns, demonstrate his ability to make an impact on the field.
Despite being primarily recruited as a wide receiver, Blackshear’s versatility and athleticism have drawn comparisons to standout Georgia wide receiver George Pickens. While he is expected to play as a Z receiver in Georgia’s offense, Blackshear’s skills have garnered interest from other programs, including Tennessee, who discussed the possibility of utilizing him as a defensive back.
As a 3-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings and a 4-star in the 247Sports composite, Blackshear’s commitment adds significant value to Georgia’s 2025 recruiting class. With his pledge, Georgia’s recruiting class moves up to the No. 11 spot nationally, surpassing notable programs such as Texas A&M, Arizona State, and Wake Forest.
Blackshear’s commitment marks an exciting addition to the Bulldogs’ roster, and fans eagerly anticipate seeing him in action on the field.
