Reflecting on Brown’s exceptional showing, Tatum remarked, “It was great. He was in a great mode tonight. He was making timely plays when maybe they were about to go on a run or something.”
Despite facing skepticism early in his career, Brown’s continuous growth and development have been evident to his teammates. Tatum emphasized Brown’s dedication, stating, “Just year after year, things continue to slow down for him. I see every day the work that he puts in on the court and watching film to study those reads and things like that.”
Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla also lauded Brown’s commitment to improvement, highlighting his growth mindset and ability to make crucial plays on both ends of the court.
Brown’s standout performance underscored the Celtics’ depth and resilience. Despite Tatum’s offensive struggles, the team remained formidable, with contributions from Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Payton Pritchard. Tatum emphasized the team’s versatility, stating, “[Tonight] shows the depth of our team and how we can win games in a lot of different ways.”

Although Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell put up an impressive effort, his performance alone couldn’t overcome the Celtics’ collective effort. Mitchell’s Herculean attempts were thwarted by Brown’s defensive prowess, exemplified by a critical block that led to a quick transition basket for the Celtics.
Looking ahead to Game 2, Brown expressed confidence in maintaining their momentum and emphasized the importance of teamwork and confidence.
With a 1-0 series lead, the Celtics will aim to replicate their well-rounded performance in Game 2, while the Cavaliers seek additional contributors to support Mitchell’s efforts before the series shifts to Ohio.
