Duke basketball is actively pursuing talent to bolster its roster for the upcoming season, and a notable development has emerged on that front.
With recent movements in the transfer portal, Duke’s basketball program has been eyeing potential additions to enhance its squad for the upcoming campaign. Following successful recruitments of transfer forwards Maliq Brown and Mason Gillis, attention now turns to securing a pivotal acquisition in the guard position.
While attempts to secure higher-profile transfers like Koby Brea and Lamont Butler haven’t materialized, the Blue Devils are exploring options for an experienced player who can make an impact, potentially coming off the bench.
In a recent report by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, it was revealed that Duke has made contact with UTSA transfer Jordan Ivy-Curry. Ivy-Curry had initially committed to Virginia Tech before withdrawing his commitment, paving the way for potential suitors like Duke to pursue him.
Since re-entering the transfer portal, Ivy-Curry has garnered interest from multiple programs, including Florida State, Grand Canyon, Kansas, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas A&M, and UCF, according to Rothstein’s report.
The Texas native brings valuable experience, having played four seasons of college basketball—three at UTSA and one at Pacific. Despite his journey, he has maintained impressive statistics, averaging 17.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 21 games last season. His proficiency from beyond the arc, shooting 38.7 percent from three, adds another dimension to his game.

Given Duke’s need for an experienced backup guard to support the projected starting backcourt of Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster, Ivy-Curry emerges as a compelling prospect to bolster the team’s rotation.
Heading into his third year as head coach, Jon Scheyer still has three available scholarships to utilize, offering further opportunities for enhancing Duke’s roster before the season kicks off.
