New Orleans Saints Strengthen Offensive Line with Addition of Justin Herron and Shane Lemieux!
New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager, Mickey Loomis, has revealed that the team has secured the services of tackle Justin Herron and guard/center Shane Lemieux on one-year contracts.
Herron, standing tall at 6 feet 5 inches and weighing 290 pounds, brings with him four years of NFL experience. Originally drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round (185th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft from Wake Forest, Herron has demonstrated versatility and skill across the offensive line. Over his tenure with the Patriots (2020-2021) and the Las Vegas Raiders (2022-2023), he participated in 35 regular-season games, starting in 11. His flexibility was showcased as he adeptly filled roles at both left and right tackle positions, including a start in a postseason game at left tackle.
Herron’s recent stints with the Raiders saw him contributing in six games in 2023, with one start, and one appearance in 2022. In his 2021 season with the Patriots, he played in all 16 games, securing two starts at left tackle and two at right tackle. Notably, he commenced the AFC Wild Card Playoff at left tackle.
During his collegiate years at Wake Forest, Herron left an indelible mark, boasting a record 51 career starts. His standout performance as team captain in his senior year in 2019 earned him third-team All-ACC honors, where he anchored the left tackle position for all 13 games.
The addition of Herron and Lemieux underscores the Saints’ commitment to fortifying their offensive line, a strategic move aimed at bolstering the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
