Pache’s heroics came after he entered the game in the eighth inning as a pinch runner for Kyle Schwarber. Prior to Pache’s game-winning hit, Bryce Harper contributed an RBI single, while Stott showcased his batting prowess with two hits during the game. Phillies’ starting pitcher Aaron Nola demonstrated his dominance on the mound, pitching 7 1/3 innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out nine batters and issuing only one walk.
Seranthony Dominguez (1-0) secured the win in relief for the Phillies, capping off a stellar pitching performance. On the opposing side, Michael Toglia’s solo home run and Elias Diaz’s two hits weren’t enough to propel the Rockies to victory. Colorado’s starter, Cal Quantrill, put up a solid performance, conceding just one run on four hits with one strikeout and two walks over six innings.
The game had its share of tense moments, including a critical play in the top of the ninth inning when pinch runner Kyle Freeland was called out at home after a wild pitch by Jeff Hoffman. Despite Freeland’s attempt to score, he was tagged out at home plate, with the call being upheld after a review.
In the midst of the action, Nola showcased his pitching prowess by striking out the side in the seventh inning. Meanwhile, the Phillies’ offense continued to apply pressure, with Stott delivering a crucial single in the seventh inning and Turner doubling in the third inning to set up Harper’s RBI single for an early 1-0 lead.
Although the Rockies managed to tie the game at 1 in the fifth inning with Toglia’s solo home run, the Phillies remained resilient. Stott’s stolen base in the bottom of the fifth and Realmuto’s single in the sixth inning kept the pressure on Colorado’s defense, although the Phillies couldn’t capitalize on those opportunities.
Ultimately, it was Pache’s moment of brilliance in the 10th inning that secured the victory for the Phillies, providing a thrilling end to an intense matchup between the two teams
