Following a remarkable 2-1 victory against Notts County, Swindon Town’s rising star, expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity he received last weekend.
Having joined the Robins just at the end of March, the 24-year-old had a rocky start after being let go by Scottish powerhouse Rangers earlier in the season. However, his perseverance paid off when he made his debut in the dying minutes of the thrilling win against Notts County.
Subsequently, he secured starting spots in matches against Sutton United and, most notably, Barrow, marking his first complete 90-minute performance in over three years.
In an interview with the club’s media post their 2-0 victory at Holker Street, the former Wycombe Wanderers player conveyed his gratitude towards the coaching staff in Swindon for their unwavering trust. “Today’s result reflects our efforts on the field. We could have achieved more, but we’ll carry this momentum into next week’s game against AFC Wimbledon,” he commented. “With a cohesive group like ours, I’m optimistic about finishing the season on a high note.”
Reflecting on his journey, Ofoborh admitted he hadn’t anticipated starting consecutive games so soon after joining. Yet, he attributed his success to divine grace and the support of his coaches and teammates. “I’m thankful for the opportunity and the belief shown in me. My fellow players have been instrumental in helping me navigate these games, and I hope we can maintain this positive trajectory,” he added.
Previously, Ofoborh’s career had taken a hit when a heart condition prevented him from playing for the Rangers, despite being signed by Steven Gerrard. However, after undergoing treatment and training with Swindon, he has caught the eye of their new manager, Gavin Gunning. Speaking to the media, Gunning expressed his delight at having Ofoborh in the squad, acknowledging the player’s resilience in overcoming his health setback.
With Swindon’s safety from relegation confirmed for the season, attention turns to their upcoming fixtures against Wimbledon, Walsall, Grimsby Town, and Morecambe, as they aim to conclude their campaign on a positive note.
