Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that there is substantial interest from Manchester City in signing West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta, although formal discussions between the clubs have yet to commence. Paqueta has been a priority target for Manchester City since last summer when a potential deal fell through.
The Brazilian midfielder is eager to join City, but various factors are still uncertain, preventing any direct negotiations between the clubs. Romano emphasized that while Paqueta is enthusiastic about the move, its realization depends on multiple variables and is not currently being actively pursued by the clubs.
Speculation regarding Paqueta’s transfer to Manchester City persists, fueled by ongoing reports linking him with a move to the Etihad. However, suggestions that he has already reached out to City and agreed to terms appear premature. It’s evident that Paqueta is interested in leaving West Ham, but the specifics of any potential deal remain unclear.
The outcome may also be influenced by Paqueta’s alleged involvement in gambling charges, as any ensuing ban or punishment could complicate or even halt a transfer. West Ham and manager David Moyes are likely keen to retain Paqueta, given his significant contributions to the team’s performance this season, which could suffer greatly if he were to depart.
Meanwhile, Thilo Kehrer has openly discussed his loan move from West Ham to Monaco, indicating a permanent departure from the London Stadium.
